Innovation drives everything we do

Stamford Products design and engineering team

From concept to production

If you have had an idea on your mind for ages, even just the beginnings of a plan for a product that could revolutionise the way you do business or what you offer your clients, bring it to us and we will work with you to make it a reality.

When you first visit the Mailbox in-house design team, you may have nothing more than a few notes and drawings scribbled on a page, possibly not even that.  We start by talking through your concept with you and making some initial sketches. Using the latest software packages, we use those sketches to generate a solid model and a 3D Initial Graphics Exchange Specification (IGES) file that allows the design to be rotated and viewed from all angles.

Your idea made real

Once the virtual product has been generated, we will work with you to implement any modifications and look at the tooling required to make a prototype, giving you a tangible object to examine and evaluate - your idea made real.

Material choices, tooling and unit costs, and timescale are all pulled together by the design team for you to evaluate.  Once approved, we work with trusted partners to manufacture the appropriate tooling, which is then checked to ensure it matches the specification. Improvements can also be made if needed.

A perfectly engineered product

An added benefit of working with a company as respected and established as Mailbox is that production can be started by the tooling manufacturers at their own factory, giving us the opportunity to rectify any preliminary issues before tooling arrives at our UK facility.

Tooling design

If the project requires special tooling, our team will carry out the analysis, planning, design, construction and application of tools, methods and procedures necessary.  We will carefully assess blueprints and iron out potential design flaws before production work begins, ensuring a perfectly engineered product.

Medstor Xtraglide

When Medstor needed to take the functionality and handling of the trays and liners in its specialist medical storage solutions to the next level, we worked with the team to develop the innovative Xtraglide system.
